In Memory of Sophie

This past weekend, our family had to put down Sophie, our 14-year old Bichon Frise, after a long decline in health. Especially tough for us was the fact that 3 out of 4 of us were attending a wedding half-way across the country and had to make a decision about euthanizing her on the phone, without the chance to properly say goodbye.

Here are several real photo postcards, about 100 years old, of Bichons or similar dogs. Hopefully Sophie has met up with them as she "crossed the Rainbow Bridge," and they are having a great time together!

Here's a portrait of "Bonnie" and "Dot," made in 1913...

And here's our Sophie... who we're missing very much.

It's a horrible time for you so I do sympathise. Sophie was a really lovely dog.

I am so sorry to read about the loss of your dear Sophie. Sadly dogs must leave our lives too soon but they always leave them a little bit richer. Thank-you for sharing her picture and the lovely postcards of other Bichons.

I am sorry to hear of the loss of Sophie. We lost our last Border Terrier in 2008 and although we have another Border called Alfie, I do miss Monty dreadfully. Such small beings, yet they leave large holes!
